Most of the recombinant DNA technology involves the insertion of genes into the plasmids of bacterias. Plasmids are small rings of DNA, they are not part of the chromosome. The technique, gene editing, is used by the early 21st century. Gene editing is based on a technology, known as CRISPR-Cas9, this allows researchers to customize a living organism's genetic sequence, this is used to make specific changes to its DNA. (Britannica, 2019) The CRISPR is a genome-editing tool, it is a simple yet powerful tool for editing genomes. It makes sure that the researchers easily alter DNA sequences and modify various gene functions. Cas9 is an enzyme that is like a pair of molecular scissors, it is capable of cutting strands of DNA. There are a lot of pros of genetic engineering, they can be very useful, the purpose of genetic engineering is that they vanities, which means that they pick some of the traits of offspring, they can determine the sex, and they can fix genetic mutations that cause disease, increase in life expectancy, and fight cancer and other diseases. On the other hand, genetic engineering still has cons, it can religious and ethical concerns, followers think that this is “playing god”, genetic issues, health issues, allergies, and effects on wildlife.
