Attend to Precision
Students must learn how to be clear with their instructions to other students. They will learn how to properly label any charts, tables or other equations correctly.

Model with Mathematics
Students use their tools to solve real world problems, organize data and helps students better understand how math is applied to the world around them.
Give examples that involve math, music, art etc.
Create math problems or discussions involving problems happening in the world around the students. (newspapers, radio, television etc).

Reason Abstractly
Students can use a method of breaking a problem down using pictures or symbols to represent a number problem. Students can also use their knowledge of different areas of life to reason their way through a word problem with the units involved.
Use manipulatives to give a hands on experience and to make it easier to move around the ideas until it makes sense.
Give problems that resonates with a students life and what they are familiar with, to make it easier to understand what different symbols can be.
