ELECTION - The process by which we elect our leaders

VOTE - Making choice between two or more candidates

VOTERS - People who cast their vote to elect their leaders

VOTING - The process by which people choose their leaders

POLITICAL PARTY - A party is a group of People with common set of ideas called IDEOLOGY

INDIA has multiparty system.
Bhartiya Janata Party , Indian National Congress , Aam Aadmi Party , Shiv Sena

Regional parties are active in state

RETURNING OFFICER - Officer of Election Commission who prepares list of competing candidates.

BALLOT papers printed with party symbol and candidate name .

ROLE OF ELECTION COMMISSION

1.Responsible for free and fair elections

2.Decide date and place where elections are held.

CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER - HEAD of Election Commission who plays important role in conducting election

4.No rules should be broken by candidates,voters and political parties

PROCESS of ELECTION

1.Country is divided into constituencies during the Election of Lok sabha.


2.List of voters is prepared and then published.


3.Nomination papers are filed by the candidates.


4.The nomination papers are checked by the Election Commission.


5.The Election Campaign is conducted by the candidates.The Election Campaign ends 48 hours before the poll takes place.


6.The last step is to count the votes and declare the results.

PROCESS OF VOTING -On entering the hall the voters name is checked in the list.
Then the voter casts vote for the candidate of the choice. In 1998 the commission has started using EVM [Electronic Voting Machine]
Voter has to simply press the button on side of the candidates party symbol to cast the vote. After each vote the machine gets lock itself and the machine can only unlock itself by using a new ballot no. by a government officer in charge



POLLING STATION -Place where people go to vast their vote.

VOTING is done through a secret ballot system
