On a whole, the event brought both positive and negative consequences for the Chinese-Canadian Group. On one hand you have the obvious negative consequences such as the solidification of discrimination of Chinese Canadians. On the other hand you have positive things that came out of the event such as the address movement. While yes it could be said that the redress movement never needed to happen if the government cared more about human rights, but the movement in general not only made Canada and America more aware of human rights violations, but the entire world. So overall, in the long term, the now, the head tax has brought a somewhat positive change.
