People should know that they might be wrong about their dietary choices, and that a diet they suspected would increase their health, has in fact decreased their health because of deficiencies in nutrients or other reasons
These lessons are important for everyone because they teach us that sheep mentality can be dangerous
There are many beneficial nutrients in gluten products such as whole grains and fibers that may not exist in gluten free alternatives
because cutting gluten out of your diet requires the replacement foods to taste similar to the original, meaning they are filled with potentially processed and unhealthy things

I see tons of gluten free options in restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, etc

A lot of my friends are claiming a newfound gluten sensitivity which is hard to believe since it did not exist before and it happens to coincide with the uprising of the GFD trend
Through my research I’ve learned that the majority of people who eat a gluten-free diet are not doing it because they need to. A very small percentage of people eating gluten free have celiac disease
However, these options are usually replacing gluten with potato, rice, or corn. These alternatives do not seem necessarily healthier than gluten so it doesn’t make sense to go gluten free unless you need to for health reasons such as celiac disease.
