MIND MAP ACTIVITY
Digestive System
FUNCTIONS
- Elimination of solid food waste
-
FUNCTIONS OF STRUCTURES
- Produces saliva, breaks food down
- Is what connects the mouth to the throat
- Is where the food you consume gets digested at, broken down further
- Where 90% of food digestion and absorption of food occurs
- Where the digestive food, waste, is disposed at
DISEASES
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
-
-
Skeletal System
FUNCTION
- Mechanical. Support. Bones provide a framework for the attachment of muscles and other tissues
- Protective. Bones such as the skull and rib cage protect vital organs from injury. Bones also protect the marrow
- Metabolic. Mineral storage
MAJOR STRUCTURES
- Stores and releases minerals and fat
FUNCTIONS OF STRUCTURES
- The bones in the body act as a frame to hold up the body
- Enables the body to have strong enough bones so it can function
- The rib cage will protect the internal organs
- Bone Marrow produces blood cells
- Bones store Minerals and fat
DISEASES
- Rickets, prohibites healthy bones
- Hip dysplasia, hip socket that doesn't fully cover the ball portion of the upper thighbone
3.Bone disease, bones that are unhealthy and become frail
CARE
There are supplements for special bone growth and bone repair. Milk is also a good way to get calcium D.
Endocrine System
FUNCTIONS
- Sexual function and reproduction
-
MAJOR STRUCTURES
- Sleeping and waking cycles
-
FUNCTIONS OF STRUCTURES
- When your hearts beats per minute increases
- Blood pressure measures how hard the blood is pushing against the walls of the arteries
- The pattern of which you sleep and wake up
- The heat that your body produces
-
CARE
Don't over consume sugary products, don't misuses them
Muscular System
FUNCTION
- Mobility. The muscular system's main function is to allow movement
- Stability. Muscle tendons stretch over joints and contribute to joint stability
- Circulation, blood moving through the body
-
FUNCTION OF STRUCTURE
- Acting together these muscles form a firm wall that protects the viscera and they help to maintain erect posture
2.Is a thick, fan-shaped muscle, which makes up the bulk of the chest muscle
- Muscle responsible for controlling the shoulder
- Pair of large triangular muscles extending over the back of the neck and shoulders and moving the head and shoulder blade
- Function to straighten the back
-
-
Cardiovascular System
FUNCTIONS
- Circulates OXYGEN and removes Carbon Dioxide
-
-
FUNCTIONS OF STRUCTURES
- Acts as a pump so the blood can get oxygenated, also by the heart
- To transport blood throughout the body
- Transports oxygenated blood throughout the body from the heart
- Brings nutrients and oxygen to tissues and remove waste products
- Brings blood that has already been used back to the heart to get re-oxygenated
CARE
Stay away from harmful products that contain a lot of sugars or fats that can possibly increase your heart rate and block arteries
DISEASES
- Abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias
- Heart attack, stops beating
- Heart failure, heart cant fill up with enough blood
Respiratory System
FUNCTIONS
- Inhaling and Exhaling (Breathing)
- Exchanges gases between the lungs and bloodstream (External)
- Exchanges gases between the lungs, bloodstream, and body tissues (Internal)
MAJOR STRUCTURES
-
FUNCTIONS OF STRUCTURES
- Divided into three different sections, one strictly for breathing, the second on for breathing and food consumption, and the last one for the other two (just the end of it)
- Connects the Pharynx to the Trachea
- Connects the Larynx to the lungs, can expand and collapse when needed
- Act as a pump to bring air into our body's
- Creates a negative pressure which draws air into the lungs
DISEASES
1.Cystic fibrosis
A disease most commonly found in smokers, effects breathing, and obtain a cough with blood found often
-
-
CARE
Try to stay away from harmful products. Do not put anything in your body that would severely damage your Respiratory System.
Nervous System
FUNCTIONS
- ( A nerve located in the central nervous system , sends signals from the Central Nervous System to the muscles
- ( The process of "linking" together cells, nerves )
- ( Small nerves that allow us to feel things or sense them )
MAJOR STRUCTURES
-
FUNCTIONS OF STRUCTURES
- A very complex organ in the body, controls everything that a person or animal thinks or does.
- To process and transmit information.
- Is a type of chemical messenger which transmits signals across a chemical synapse, such as a neuromuscular junction
- Relay messages from the brain to different parts of the body.
- Controls the flow of messages between the brain and the rest of the body.
DISEASES
1.
- Bell's Palsy, sudden weakness or paralysis of facial muscles.
- Epilepsy, nerve activity is disturbed (Often relayed with seizures)
CARE
Stay away from harmful products such as cigarettes. You can also care for it by having a healthy life style and take vitamins.
-
Alzheimer's, makes a person forget things.
-
