37 injuries
This was a consequence to the event as people were hurt in all of the chaos and sent to the hospital. These people were innocent civilians who were unlucky enough to get involved with the riot.

Most Important Cause
I think that the most important cause to Richard Riot is when Maurice Richard got suspended for the rest of the season and playoffs for hitting a linesman because with him being suspended their chances of winning were much lower and the fans knew it. The Montreal Canadians fans were unhappy with the result and probably thought that it wasn’t a fair fight without their star player which caused them to release anger at the league and city.

Definition of Topic
The Richard Riot was a 7 hour riot that was caused by a hockey player suspended for the rest of the season and playoffs for hitting a linesman. This hockey player was Maurice Richard and he played for the Montreal Canadians. This riot took place in Quebec and there were $100,000 worth of property damages, 100 arrests, and 37 injuries. Animosity between the Anglophones and Francophones reached a boiling point leading to the riot because Francophones were treated like 2nd class citizens in their own country. This is because Anglophones controlled Quebec and were in power over the government, the economy, and even the sport leagues while the Francophones had none.
Constants
Francophones lack of control over Quebec stayed the same because it didn’t happen immediately. It took many years for Quebec to get to the point it is now. Another constant is that Francophones still dealt with racism mostly in the form of racial slurs from Anglophones.
