Effects on kidneys
Liraglutide improved glycemic control, reduces urinary albumin excretion, and increased urinary sodium excretion
Mechanism of action
Lower blood glucose by slowing gastric emptying, stimulating glucose dependent insulin release, suppressing postpradial glucagon release, and reducing appetite.
Contraindications
History of angioedema, serious hypersensitivity reactions or anaphylaxis
Diabetic ketoacidosis, type 1 diabetes mellitus
Thyroid cancer
Gastroparesis

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

Indications
Improves control of blood glucose in type 2 diabetes mellitus
May be used together with diet and exercise for chronic weight management in adults patients
Nursing considerations
Tell patients they should administer the drug at he same time each day
Observe and assess patients injections technique and teach them to rotate injection site
Storage
Should be stored between 2-8⁰C. Do not store in the freezer
