DICLOFENAC SODIUM

Mechanism of action
It inhibits the enzymes cyclooxygenase ,
Which is essential in biosynthesis of prostaglandins.
Indications
Eye drops are used for short term to relieve pain, swelling of eyes.
Diclofenac eye drops are used on eye surgery,
To prevent the pupil from becoming smaller.
Nursing considerations
Nurse must monitor allergic reactions.
The diclofenac must not be given into a patient with the history of:
Glaucoma,
Dry eyes syndrome,
Blood clothing disorder,
Diabetes and
Recent surgeries.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated to patient with known hypersensitivity.
Not breast feed while using diclofenac ophthalmic
Side effects
Vision changes, increased sensitivity to light

Eye pain, redness or excessive watering

Severe burning, stinging, or itching eyes

Storage
Store in a temperature of 25' c in a cool, dry place,
Away from direct sunlight.
