Indications
Type one diabetes
Women with gestational diabetes
Pancreatitis
Acute infections
Dose
Initial basal insulin dosing: 10units
Initial bolus insulin dosing: 4units/10% of basal dose
Short to rapid acting: decrease dose by 20%
NPH to long acting: decrease dose by 20%
Storage conditions
Insulin not in use to be kept in refrigerator
Alternatively at room temperature of (15-25 degrees C)
Vial in use: kept at room temperature(15-25 degrees C)

Hypoglycemia
Hypokalemia
Mechanism of action
Allows glucose transport into cells of all tissues
