Condensation
The tiny parts of water vapor that were once warm and moving apart become cooler and move closer together.
Condensation is when gas changes to a liquid
This happens to water vapor in the atmosphere
Clouds form during condensation
Evaporation
The process where liquids change to a gas or water vapor
The sun's rays heats up the ocean
75% of Earth's surface is our ocean water
The sun is the major source of energy which powers the Water Cycle
Transpiration
When a plant absorbs water in its roots.
Where plants absorb water through the roots and then give off water vapor through pores in their leaves.
Transpiration is the process where plants absorb water through the roots and then give off water vapor through pores in their leaves.
Precipitation
Precipitation is a liquid or solid that falls to the Earth
It falls after condensation happens in the atmospheere
It is important in the water cycle because it is how water moves from the atmosphere to the Earth or ocean
Precipitation has to do with things falling down, and not just from the sky. It's also what happens in chemical reactions when a solid settles to the bottom of a solution.
Run-Off
Run-Off is water that did not get absorb into the soil and flows back to the ocean
When there is more water than land can absorb.
Run-Off Water flows back to the ocean
Runoff can be described as the part of the water cycle that flows over land as surface water instead of being absorbed into groundwater or evaporating.
