Common findings in the preicteric phase include malaise, severe headache, right upper quadrant abdominal pain, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, fever, arthralgia (joint pain), rash, enlarged lymph nodes, urticaria, and enlargement and tenderness of the liver. The preicteric phase lasts 1 to 21 days and is the period when the patient is most infectious.
