The Research Process
Insufficiently motivated research questions do not create new knowledge or insight about the phenomenon being investigated.
Research questions must answer with real problems and not hypothetical problems that affect substantial portion of a population and has not been correctly addressed in researches before.
Pursing research fads is a common mistake that is made with "popular" topics but it is limited shelf life. Researches take years to complete and publish but that popular interest may become unpopular once the research is completed and submitted for publication.
Unresearchable problems means when problems can probably not be answered accurately based on observed evidence alone or using current accepted methods and procedures. Unresearchable problems can be modified into usable and great research problems.
Favored research methods is when researchers have a tendency to recast a research a problem. Research methods should be chosen based on the best research problem.
Blind data mining is when researchers collect data and then figure out what to do with it. Researchers' data that is collected can be useless if planning is not done meticulously.
