The first brutal battle before the Alamo. A lot of casualties were suffered by both sides.

The Vanguard of the Mexican army appeared before San Antonio, attacked and took possession of the town, driving the small Texas garrison into the Alamo.
It was the twelfth day of the siege and Santa Anna called a conference of his commanders.
This is the day Santa Anna ordered the attack of the Alamo. They would focus on 4 different points on the wall.
- February 1836
Texan Military forces consisted of nearly 100 men in the Alamo, a little more than 400 under the command of Fannin at Goliad. 60 or 70 with Johnson and Grant. The Texas forces were unready and scattered. Unfortunately, Santa Anna's army was on the march. It vastly outnumbered the Texans in infantry

Colonel Neil left the Alamo on February 11 due to illness in his family. Although he turned command over to Col. Travis a fellow army man,many men preferred the less strict Bowie.
- December 3rd 1835
However the Texas troops proved ill-disciplined and refused to order a attack.
- December 9th 1935
General Cos surrendered on this day. Millam didn't survive to see the surrender as he was killed.
- January 19th
James Bowie arrived at the Alamo on this day. Impressed by Neil's work on the fort, he resolved to defend it.
- Texas becomes a state
On March 1st 1836 there was a conference to declare the state independent and establish a temporary government.
