DEFINITION
The programs that control the computer system.
APPLICATION
Are programs that allow the user to develop especific tasks.

EXAMPLES: device driver, utilities, complier, linkers,

OPERATING SYSTEM USER INTERFACES
GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE
GUI allows the user to interact with the computer by icons that when just selecting it, makes the operation wanted.
COMAND LINE INTERFACE
CLI requires user to tap and remember lots of comands because it is interacting directly with the computer programing in order to carry on diverse operations.
Are programs that allow the harware to work in the correct way and permit the use to interact with the computer.

TYPES OF COMPUTERS
DESKTOP
Advantages
Internet conection is more stable as the computer is fixed in one place and not moving around.
It gets damage in a more difficult way as it is always set over firm surface.
Its different spare parts and conections are standarized, so they have low cost.
Disadvantages
All ways needs to be wired or conected to an energy suply in order to work.
If you want to wok in another place, you need to copy your work in a USB or send it to your e-mail in order to transport your files.
As it is made up of different separate hadware components, it is not very portable
TABLETS
Advantages
Very,very lightweight and thin, so it is totally portable.
Turns on very fast as it not necessary to wait windows system to charge.
It has a touch screen so it is lots easier to use.
Disadvantages
When writing on the touch screen is easier to type wrong or press the incorect thing, compared to a traditional keyboard.
Tablets are not as good equipped as laptops when it refers to run different software programs.
Often have a very limitted memory coompared to laptops.
LAPTOP
Advantages
It is very portable as all the harware it usually uses is together in one unit.
As a laptop is potable it can link to any multimedia system.
It takes full advantage of Wi-Fi.
Disadvantages
As it is very portable, is easier to be steal.
They have a limited battery, so the user always needs to carry the charger.
They can get damage faster as the user carries it, and it can easly fall or get hit by something.
MAINFRAME
Advantages
It has a huge amont of storage capacity.
It can support multiple operating systems.
It has very fast processor speed.
Disadvantages
For maintaining an using it, it is required to have lots of previous knowlegde or specialized staff.
It ocupies large space and needs to be in a not hot room.
It is a very, very expensive type of computer, so is mainly used just by big companies or goverment agencies.
