Wrote many essays and short stories, but none of them ended up being published. She was encouraged to publish one of her short stories, so she quit her job to finish it
Went to a public school and a private college for a year before transferring to the University of Alabama. Came back after graduating, but dropped out 6 months before graduating again. :scroll:

Submitted a copy of her book, but the editors didn't like it, but did encourage her to rewrite it. :cry: The book, To Kill A Mocking Bird, was published in 1960.
Her book was very popular and published 500,000 copies in a year, and was printed in 10 different languages. :book:

Her dad was a lawyer, and her sister was also a lawyer. The main character Scout's dad is a lawyer as well.

Spent a lot of her time reading as a kid which probably influenced her desire to be an author. :books:
