- an effective logo should be memorable this is achieved by having a memorable yet appropriate logo
- if your logo changed to much over the years it won't be memorable
timeless
- your logo shouldn't have to change in 10-20 years
- leave trends behind because they will come and go
versatile
- you should alway work in black and white first to ensure that your logo will look good in simplest form
- the logo should be able to work in horizontal and vertical formats
simple
- feature something unique without being overdrawn
- simple logos are easily recognized and incredibly memorable
appropiate
- make sure that the font,size and position of logo are appropriate for its intended purpose
- you don't need show what a business sells or offers in a service
