Old Labour
Formed in 1900 by a group of socialist societies and trade unions called the Labour Representation Committee until 1906 (showing initial aim of getting more WC MPs into Parliament and better working conditions)
1918 Committed to Clause 4 "common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange" -nationalisation
-

-
1945-1979 were social democratic (did not want to abolish capitalism but make sure it did not exploit the WC)

Following this there was a divide between the social democrats and the more left wing (the latter won and got leadership under Foot)
Lost the 1983 election over their hard line policies eg. Leaving the EEC and further nationalisation. Kinnock had to rebuild the party
