TYPES OF CONFORMITY.
Conformity: Yielding to group pressure. individuals behaviors and beliefs are influenced by larger group of people.
Compliance:
Public agreement but private disagreement.
Weakest form of conformity, behaviors and opinions are adjusted to avoid disapproval and be accepted.
Temporary change only shown in the presence of group.
Identification:
Public and private agreement.
Adjust behaviors to those of group because membership of that group is desirable.
Temporary, belief is not maintained when not in the presence of the group.
Internalisation: Public and private agreement. Permanent change. Deepest form of conformity. Genuinely adjust behavior and opinions due to changes in belief
