Man-On-The-Moon-The-End-Of-Day-Deluxe-Edited-Version-English-2015-500x500 …
Soundtrack to my life by Kid CudiI got ninety-nine problems and they all bitches
Wish i was jigga man, carefree living
But i am not Shawn or Martin Louie
I'm the Cleveland nigga rollin' with them Brooklyn boys
You know how I be when you start livin' large
I control my own life, Charles was never in charge
No sticom could teach Scott about the dram
Or even explain the troubles that haunted my mom
On Christmas time, my mom christmas grind
Got me most of what i wanted, how'd you do it mom, huh?
She copped the toys i would play with in my room by myself, why he by himself
He got two older brothers, one hood, one good
An independent older sister got me fly when she could
But they all didn't see,
the little bit of sadness in me, ScottyI've got some issues that nobody can see
And all of these emotions are pouring out of me
I bring them to the light for you
It's only right
This is the soundtrack to my life (yeah, yeah)
The soundtrack to my lifeI'm super paranoid, like a sixth sense
Since my father died, I ain't been right since
And I tried to piece the puzzle of the universe
Split an eighth of 'shrooms just so i could see the universe
I tried to think about myself as a sacrifice
just to show the kids they ain't the ones who up at night
The moon will illuminate my room and soon i'm consumed by my doom
Once upon a time nobody gave a fuck
It's all said and done and my cock's been sucked
So now i'm in the cut, alcohol in the wound
My heart's an open sore that I hope heal soon
I live in a cocoon opposite of cancun
Where it's never sunny, the dark side of the moon
So it's more than right, I tried to shed some light on a man
Not many people of this planet understand, fam'I've got some issues that nobody can see
And all of these emotions are pouring out of me
I bring them to the light for you
It's only right
This is the soundtrack to my life
The soundtrack to my lifeI was close to go and trying some coke
And a happy ending would be slitting my throat
Ignorance the cope man
Ignorance is bliss
Ignorance is love, and i need that shit
If i never did shows, then i'd probably be a jack-ass
Don't give a shit what people talkin' 'bout fam
Haters shake my hand but i keep it sanitiser on deck
Hope i really get to see thirty
Wanna settle down, stop being so flirty
Most of the clean faces be the most dirty
I just need a thoroughbred, cook when I'm hungry
Ass all chunky, brain is insanity
Only things that calm me down, pussy and come Cali tree
And i get both, never truly satisfied
I am happy, that's just the saddest lie I've got some issues that nobody can see
And all of these emotions are pouring out of me
I bring them to the light for you
It's only right
This is the soundtrack to my life,
The soundtrack to my life
To my life
To my life
To my life
To my life
Yeah uh huh yeah (to my life)
Yeah uh huh yeah (to my life)
Yeah uh huh yeah (to my life)
Yeah uh huh yeah (to my life)
Yeah uh huh yeah
Yeah uh huh yeah
Yeah uh huh yeah
Yeah yeah
Literary devices
Repetition
There are multiple repetition in the song such as "the soundtrack to my life", "I've got some issues that nobody can see" & "to my life" mainly to emphasise and stressed all of the negativity have made who he is today.
Not only these phrases are constantly repeated throughout the song which represents his sorrowful emotions. The idea of trying to think of himself as a sacrifice is shown as an archetype to symbolise himself as the hero who ultimately sadden himself to make the ones around him less depressed.
Sound devices
There are no alliteration & onomatopoeia but with multiple assonance where one of it is "He got two older brothers, one hood, one good"

Simile
Situation that can be visualise with it's exact situation that is written to provide an image to the reader
"I am super paranoid, like a 6th sense" (Verse 2, line 1)
This phrase allows the readers to use simile to envision the literal meaning of the phrase, where the singer is so paranoid, he feels it is possible to predict the future and his "6th sense". Simile enhances the literal meaning of the phrase and gives the reader in depth towards how his issues severely making him paranoid.
Metaphors
larger emotional connection that are show towards the reader, usually used to compare two different objects
"I live in a cocoon opposite of Cancun, where it is never sunny the dark side of the moon"
The connection between the character and the objects, Cocoon & the far side of the moon, making a connection towards the sense and feeling of isolation. The metaphor gives off the emotion of the struggle of staying alone in where he felt isolated & depressed

Setting
visual details
In the lyrics of the song, the author gave off the imagery of the place he lived at and in the same time providing the name of the place he had been through.
In the poem, the singer mentioned about "Brooklyn" which is where he was raised but also uses words that creates abstract imagery, such as "I am super paranoid" & "i just need a thoroughbred".
Through abstract thoughts and intellect, readers are able to comprehend the messages that can't be perceive with the senses
period of history
The periods of history depicted in the poem are mostly flashback back and forth towards the unpleasant past and the present self he had been through
"Since my father died, I ain't been right since." (line 23)
The song was release around the 2000s, which was in the singer's 20s referring back and forth with his adolescent and adult self. The flashback self must have refer to all the events that have occurred around the 1980s -1990s. These are the events that youngster would likely to experience.

periods of nature
There are no evidences which shows the period of nature in the lyrics. Therefore, my assumptions towards the periods of nature depicted in the lyrics would be during autumn because of the maturity changes throughout the lyrics that reflects and embrace the singer's life which depicts the fall.

Title
soundtrack to my life
The title of the song "soundtrack to my life" literally explains the life of the singer in a soundtrack. The title, in association with the song which replays the life of the singer. The title itself has a connotation of dealing with the sorrowful memories of a depressing life
"Not many people of this planet understand fame"
(Verse 2, line 15)
This demonstrates the literal sense of no ordinary people could relate themselves to the one suffer through mental illness. Part of the song mentioned the idea that even fame can't being you happiness, it also relates to the internal struggle of the character dealing through the obstacle in pass and present. This is where the characters seeks for understanding
Structure
The song is mostly made of short sentences and enjambment which often occurred when the singer indicates the importance of the message in phrases
"Ignorance the cope man, Ignorance is bliss, Ignorance is love"
The sentence "ignorance is love", was directly structured after the previous line to emphasise the word "ignorance", where enjambment are able to provide a clearer insight towards the importance of the word that come along right after the previous phrase. Specifically conveying the narrator's viewpoint in this sentence about how ignorance could help solving the hatred from others.
This song do not have full stop but it does contain comas at certain part of the lyrics instead of the usual end of a line. Commas are used in this song to emphasise the upcoming sentence that are connected with the previous one
"I've got some issues that nobody can see, And all of these emotions are pouring out of me"
In this example, the commas helps the singer to add on further information that continues the importance of the sentence before it. This allows the sentence to flow without interrupting the whole meaning of it, which is the emotions where only the singer knew are hidden along with the problems he faced unable to perceived by any other
Atmosphere
-
Even though "soundtrack to my life" sounds playful but the lyrics are very serious and it put one in mind of pain and suffer
"And a happy ending would be slitting my throat"
(Verse 3, line 2)
The emotional responses, atmosphere, the point of view and the use of words provides the reader a depressed ambience that consist of pain & despair which created the lyrics with in depth sensation allowing readers to comprehend
Characters
Other characters that are revealed in the song lyrics includes (Shawn/Martin Louie)
(Scott, mom & haters)
Shawn & Martin
"But I am not Shawn or Martin Louis, I am the Cleveland nigga rollin with them Brooklyn boys" (Verse 1, line 4 & 4)
This is a clear reference to the people whom the singer wish to become but ultimately became dull towards it since had all these obstacles coming on his way and the privilege difference they had
Scott, Mom & Haters
"But they all didn't see the little bit of sadness in me, Scotty"
(Verse 1, line 15-17)
There are also few other phrases mentioned about Scotty, which is obviously the singer or the narrator himself, carrying the emotions where the it almost sounds as if he pities himself in retrospect, tragic by events shaping for who he is now
"Don't give a shit what haters talking bout fam"
(Verse 3, lline 7)
Shows the struggle to deal with the burden he never ask for, I learned that certain times the only way to cope with tough situation is to ignore them. Often times it is not the solution but there are times that are better left it without care
"On Christmas time my mom Christmas grind, Got me most of what I wanted, how'd you do it mom, huh" (verse 1, line 9 & 10)
The mom that was mentioned in the song plays a role towards shaping of how the singer is today by providing supports and lending him a help but not able to comprehend all the burden he went through.
Narrator
I learned that the narrator of the lyrics in the song is an ignorant black man that was complaining about all the unpleasant moments in his life. I am able to identify these things because the singer was putting most of his life tragedies in order to express it through the song
"I am this close to go and trying some coke, And a happy ending would be slitting my throat" (Verse 3, line 1 & 2)
Earlier in the song the narrator mentioned his father that had died when he was young, therefore significantly changes his life and making who he is today. In the song, there is a lot to convey about the singer's true feelings that he has yet to mention to his love ones. He had lost all the interest in life, therefore mentioning how he defines a happy ending for him would be like, the emotions that can be felt from the lyrics allow the readers to realize the pain and suffering went through had utterly made him unafraid of death.
The narrator's views are mainly to convey all the unpleasant moments hoping to get understand and to let others to feel that they're not alone
"I try to think of myself as a sacrifice, just to show the kids they ain't the only one who up at night"
Even though the narrator is utterly depressed about his life, he believes that the moon is pretty much the place of peace for the singer. In the lyrics the singer mentioned he want kids to find their own moon where it's personal and able to interpret in their own world. I learned that people will eventually find a place they feel belong and are able to be comfortable themselves despite all the negativity in life.
Language
The language used in this song lyrics is directly expressed in an ignorant standpoint and does not necessarily involved with formal nor colloquial but unusual. Furthermore, the lyrics of the song was mostly made up of connotation
