For reference, I am placed in a Grade 2 class in a public school. My mentor teacher uses a variety of assessment methods, both formative and summative, to assess student learning. She uses programs such as Raz Kids to help her gauge where her students strengths and weaknesses are in reading, and Prodigy to help her understand her students' abilities in math. My mentor teacher also assesses through checklists, note-taking, observation and individual or small-group interviews with students. Student expectations are almost always communicated to the students orally due to differences in reading abilities in the classroom.
