Bell's Palsy
Causes

Compression, possible ischemia, and demyelination of cranial nerve VII, owing to inflammation at geniculate ganglion, due to viral infection

In adolescent, more common in female

Pathology
Bell palsy is the paralysis of facial muscles, generally unilateral, caused by acute lower motor neuron weakness of cranial nerve VII (facial nerve) with no detectable cause

Sudden onset of unilateral facial weakness that evolves rapidly

Difficulty closing the eye on the affected side
