Based on the results of these 2 pre-assessment activites, the teacher divides the class into 3 homogeneous groups for differentiated learning opportunities.
Group A- "The 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly." These students will have succeeded in defining vocabulary on Quizlet and writing a sentence using an adjective of kind.
Write a "Realistic Story" that includes ranch vocabulary and adjectives of kind.

Group B- "The 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills." These students will have achieved scores in the mid-range of Quizlet, and may have produced some form of sentences with adjectives, but not of the specified "adjectives of kind".
Play a "Memory Matching" game using flashcards with phrases and photos of ranch vocabulary and adjectives of kind.

Group C- "The 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs." These students failed at the vocabulary quiz and could not produce satisfactory sentences in the photo description.
