Cataracts - clouding of the lens
Glaucoma - progressive loss, leads to blindness
conjunctivitis - inflammation on outer part of eye

endocrine system- communicates w/ hormones regulates a # of metabolic process only affects specific target cells.
enocrine glands- secretes product into body fluids to affect target cells
exocrine glands- secretes product into ducts

Cortisol (glucocorticoids) targets immune system made by the Adrenal Gland + Breaks down proteins and lipids to make glucose
Growth Hormone targets cells throughout the body made by the Anterior Pituitary + stimulates growth, repair and reproduction
Diseases associated w/ the endocrine system
Diabetes Mellitus (type one) high sugar so needs insulin to lower sugar levels.
Type II Diabetes is lack of insulin (cells don't respond to insulin) needs Glucagon to bring sugar up
hyperthyroidism-may be genetic or too much thyroxine
