Big picture/Big idea what is a material, what is it used for and what can we test materials for
Entry point this unit links directly to our last IPC unit Inventions that changed the World. Students exited - making cars from crafts supplied. They had an enquiry question a hypothesis, they had to write up the procedure and materials (equipment) needed to make their car. They had to test their enquiry question noting their observations and finally conclude by agreeing or disagreeing with their hypothesis
For their Entry Point students will mix across the milepost in groups with guided questions where they will discuss how successful their inventions were or weren't. Through this activity students will gain a better understanding of why some materials work better than others when inventing.
