Special Education Process (Jamie Myers)
Step 1: Request for Evaluation
Teacher or parent can request an evaluation for special education services If they believe the student to their child needs to be evaluated for potential services. Once the request has been processed the school district has 14 school days to respond to the request (Parent Rights, 2019, p. 16).
A parent can request a third party to evaluate their child at their own expense and to be involved in the process (Parent Rights, 2019, p. 22).
Step 2: Decision to Proceed With Evaluation
School Administrators, parents or guardians, and special education staff meet as group to determine the domains the students will be evaluated on for potential services (Parent Rights, 2019, p. 17).
Step 3: Consent to Evaluate
