Solutions - Obesity
Solution 2
Jobs which require a person to sit down for long hours should have a compulsory break within the day where they go for a run or walk around a specific area. If they complete a certain amount of laps their pay rise is increased.
Advantages
It has been suggested that sitting for 60 to 90 minutes or more was associated with a greater risk of health problems. When people have worked all day their main type of relaxation when they get home is to watch the tv or sit with the family. Therefore by bringing this idea into work places where people sit at desks all day it should encourage them to get active during the day. Not only does this benefit their health but also having fresh air and having a distraction from work will help them stay more focused and motivated when they get back to work. Also the pay rise they will gain when completing a certain amount of laps will encourage the people who are lacking in motivation as it gives them some sort of drive and determination.
Disadvantages
This may have complications for people who are injured, have a disability, pregnant women, elderly, medical conditions. Also weather conditions could affect this idea as people may not want to go out and it also may not be safe.
Pestle
This solution targets economics as it will bring more money to people in society. It also has environmental factors as the practicality of this solution will be determined on the weather and location of the area.
Solution 1
-
Advantages
It puts people off from getting a takeaway, benefiting their nutrition and providing a healthier lifestyle. If people really want to qualify for a takeaway they will probably have to exercises in order to gain the ability to do pull ups. Although they may be working towards getting a takeaway they will probably want many more in the future as well so it helps people to get fit and maintain it.
Disadvantages
This does not prevent obesity as a whole as there are more bad foods than just takeaway. This could also have a major impact on fast food businesses causing people to lose jobs.

Solution 3
Explanation
When you buy a gym member ship you can get a discount off various sports wear brands and shops, for example JD, gym shark, Nike, Adidas. To make sure that people actually use the gym and not just use the card to get a discount, conditions can be enforced where marks will be recorded on how much you attend the gym within the membership time period. The amount of times you go will impact the discount percentage.
Advantages
An advantage of this is that it will be appealing to the younger generation helping them to feel good in top of the market clothing whilst encouraging them to be more active. The rules help to make sure that people are using the gym membership for the right reason and not only to get a discount.
Disadvantages
A disadvantage to this is that it means the clothing brands will be loosing out on money. It may promote looks over health, which is not a good example to be set
Pestle
This solution targets economics and social as it involves people of society and they are getting a financial gain.
Solution 4
Explanation
Government should put a cap on the amount of calories food and drinks items are allowed to contain. 600 calories maximum.
Advantages
This stops people who are oblivious to the calories they are eating from having single food and drink items that are nearly their daily intake. For example a large mighty meaty domino's pizza is around 1,656 calories, this is nearly a persons daily intake, not considering everything else they may have ordered or eaten throughout the day. Having a ban on foods containing over 600 calories should make food options a lot healthier.
Disadvantages
Foods may still not have the nutritional benefits, they could still be made with very fattening ingredients. This ban does not prevent people from still eat over the daily intake. Obesity is not just down to the food people eat, they also need to be burning off the calories they consume.
Pestle
This solution has political factors as the government will impose this new ban. People within society will also be impacted by this ban as they are the ones eating the food, therefore this solution has social factors.
Solution 5
Explanation
An App that tells you how much exercise you are required to do in order to burn off the calories consumed within that particular product. e.g you need to walk 8 and a half miles to burn off a McDonalds Big Mac meal. General products can be searched, scanner can be used on bar codes if item can't be found.
Advantages
An advantage to this is that it helps people to have a better understanding of what they are consuming, making them think twice before buying certain food products. It allows people to pick the best options and make healthier choices. This App can encourage people to get more active because seeing the amount of work needed to burn off something they really want can motivate them. Another advantage to this app is that it is very accessible on phones and it can be used all over the world.
Disadvantages
It would take a lot of time to produce the app as there are thousands of different food products around the world so the app would have to allocate for each country. It would be time consuming for people to scan through each product to find the best option.
Pestle
This is social because it involves members of society and it is also technology because it is an app on the phone
