American propaganda encouraged citizens not to talk bad about the war, which limited civil liberties such as freedom of speech because they no longer had the freedom to talk about whatever they wanted.
American Nationalism and militarism are connected. During the time of WW1, American's were very nationalistic and believed that their country was the best. This resulted in an increase in militarism because American's wanted to have the best military and fight for their country.
