Above Average Learners:
Students who answered most, including the most difficult of the pre-assessment questions.
Figure out students' specific areas of strength; More challenging work that require higher level of thinking skills.
Create the opportunities for them to develop m ore responsibility in learning. Peer/self review.
Use topics relevant to students' real-life that encourages their critical thinking skills.
Innovative Differentiation Strategies
Comparing Two Stories
The students will be given other components from the story such as settings, events, and problems to compare. Students can work in pairs to discuss and share ideas on the passage to complete the chart
Compare Chart Presentation
Students will complete a compare chart in pairs and they will present their chart within their small groups. Each group will be given a rubric to evaluate their peers' work. They must give feedback.
Struggling Learners
Students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic.
Review the important base concept to meet the standard.
Assist students to understanding the concept with various materials; graphic organizers, visual component
Focus on re-direction, practice before any assessments.
Innovative Differentiating Strategies
Draw the character (for 3 studenst struggling with language and are different reading levels)
Student will draw out the character to find the outside and inside traits
Yes No Card
(for 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the topic)
They will answer trait questions (ex: Are his eyes blue?) with Yes No cards
On Level Learners
:
Students who have some knowledge about the topic, but need to develop higher order thinking skills.
Focus on practicing partial areas that students need to improve.
Challenge students by peer and self review. Higher level of content and questioning.
Review and reflect students' learning to ensure students understand key concepts of learning.
Innovative Differentiation Strategies
Venn Diagram
Students can simply write down trait words using the Venn diagram individually and they will form small groups of 4 to discuss and give feedback together.
Think-Ink-Pair-Share
The students will think, write text evidence from the story and pair with a partner to share their character traits.
Sorting Activity
Students will sort short reading passages to sort in appropriate cup to reinforce the trait words.
