Thesis #2 Refined

Glory: Collective Vs. Individual Vs. Nothing In Yates Vs. Beowulf Vs. DEDE

is there glory in war, and if glory can be found is it in the individual or in the cause? these questions have been asked and explored by many writers over the years. in dede we are told that there is no glory to be found in war, only death futility and evil. Yeats highlighted the unsung hero and the heroism and glory that comes from fighting for ones county. while older texts like beouwolf romanticize the hero and sing songs to his glory. by comparing the three we can see how starkly different beouwolf is from the other texts as it takes an extreme and romanticized view of war and glory. while beouwolf inspires the induvidaual to great acts of valor, Yeats highlights the glory to be found in dying for a cause, Owens shows us that there is no glory to be found in war, only death.
