Major causes of World War II
Nationalism-Countries, especially Germany wanted to grow bigger and become more powerful. They conquered other nations to grow their own territory.
Treaty of Versailles-An agreement between Germany and the allied powers that ended ww1. Germany got all the blame for the war and had to pay a lot to the Allies. People in Germany got angry. Germans and other excused Hitlers deeds because of the harsh conditions.
Germany had high debts which they could not pay.
Economic Depression-The economic collapse affected the world trade because the protectionism had increased. Germany was angry of how much they had to give away and pay, which grew an anger against other countries in Europe.
In Germany, people were suffering from an economic crisis. This led to a hate against the treaty of Versailles.
Japanese expansionism- Japan invade Manchuria and attacked later China. 1940, japan signed the Triparite pact with Germany and Italy. Us tried to curb Japans expansion and did some economic sanctions against them. Japan did not like this and attacked US on Pearl Harbor. This led Us into war. A war also broke out between Japan and the Soviet Union.
Rise of Hitler- Hitler and his part (Nazi Party) got more and more power and Hitler was the dictator during the 20 century. They used military acts to get their desire about a arias territory through. This of course made other countries fight back, and war started.
Hitler and the Nazis took power in Germany. He used an aggressive foreign policy.
Militarism-A country strengthens it's military in war with weapons and soldiers etc. Countries and especially Germany wanted a powerful military to have most power.
Britain and Germany built up their navies. This created a fear in other nations so they did the same.
Rise of fascism in Italy- Fascism is when a strong powerful government is seen as more important the individual. the government is usually racist and uses a lot of military actions. The dictator in Italy and his radicals formed a political group to support the war between Germany and Austria Hungary.
Appeasement- The act of giving your enemy his or hers demands in order to avoid further conflict.Hitler wanted Czechoslovakia and France and Britain agreed to that without checking with Czechoslovakia first, this to avoid war.
Anti Communism- Communism is when all production is controlled by the government. Many fascist leaders came to power as an opposition to communism. People chooses fascism over communism which Hitler exploited.
Anti communism was a way to grow the fascism.
Germany had a strong military and used military force to conquer other countries.

Other leaders were appeasing Hitler because they thought it would avoid war.
