Some employees are not experts when it comes to technology. It is important there are rules/regulations in place to help them keep safe onlineExamples of rules:
- Do not download any personal files
- Ensure the anti virus software is running in the background

All of these changes are due to business drivers. These are things which are forced upon the business and they have to make the changes

Exposing secretive information or activity that is deemed illegal, unethical, or not correct within a private or public organization

Use of Information

Employees have to be careful how they handle the information they have available at workCertain rules which may be in place:
- Do not share information with a 3rd party
- Do not store information on a USB pen drive

Occupational health and safety laws and regulations to provide detailed practical guidance on how to comply with legal obligations, and should be followed unless another solution with the same or better health and safety standard is in placeThese are general rules in place Examples of rules:
- Lock PC when not in use
- Do not share passwords with anyone
Stolen Data

This is where data/files are intentionally stolen
- Could be as a result of someone leaving their laptop unattended and a 3rd party copying files

Data Corruption

This is when data can become unreadable therefore useless. This often happens when the data is being edited or transferred

Hacked Data

This is where data is intercepted through the hacking of a network
- This can be performed by a hacker from a separate location

Health and Safety
Companies have to protect all employees, clients and visitors Failure to do so can result in bad publicity through the news
- This then could result in claims being made against them, court cases, fines or even prison time (loss of life)
There is also moral/ethical issues involved if the employer is risking employees life because of their careless attitude towards health and safety

Using Systems

There’s an increasing legislation on everything e.g. the use of computers in the workplace which includes specific guidelines on what individuals can do and also what the employment can do to ensure the risks are made as small as possible
Organisational Policies

There are a variety of policies depending on the organisation, which helps the employees follow certain rules and protect the employer
Responsibility

Working safely and being responsible is a key part for both the employee and the employer and both of them:
- Keep up to date with the legislation and comply with it
- Respond to employee needs
- Provide relevant equipment
- Comply with legislation
- Work safely
