Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
Known as COSHH require employers to reduce the risk of harm and exposure to substances. that are hazardous to their health.
make sure hazardous substances are correctly sorted away & disposed of correctly,
COSHH file covers the storage ,labelling , disposal of hazardous waste , the file must list all the hazardous substances in workplace and file must be kept up to date. substance must have saftey cap or lid
examples include - urine, blood , disinfectants (bleach) cleaning material , medication needles, or soiled laundary
COSSH file should - name the substance , state were kept , describe the effects , state maximum time it can be exposed.
reporting of injuries , disease and dangerous occurrences regulation
referred to as RIDDOR requires employers to keep written record following incidents is part of the law
following incidents have to be reported = work related accident cause death , cause serious injury e.g. hyperthermia , diagnosed cases of certain work related disease e.g. asbestos
incidents that have potential to cause harm e.g. chemical spills

records must be kept of = ant accident , disease and any other occupational accident causing injury
