Pre-Assessment: 12th Grade Anatomy: The Muscular System
All students will begin by taking this
assessment
Groupings:
the 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
Work in pairs on Muscle Anatomy in
Anatomy Lab
Formative Assessment: Each student will have stick notes, their partner will recite a muscular movement, the other partner will have to write the name of the corresponding muscle and place it on the "human body' on the board
If this activity helps the students get the muscles right, they will move onto Lesson 2: Muscle insertions and origins
If this activity doesn't help, they will spend more time in Anatomy Lab
the 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs
3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels
Watch the online lesson that provides them with the translations of major muscle groups from their native language to English
Formative Assessment: Exit ticket: depending on the level of language barrier, they will translate 10 muscles to English from their native language
If the lesson seems to help their understanding, they will continue on with Lesson 1
If they are still struggling, I will consult the ELL teacher for further instruction.
2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs
I will work one on one with the 2 severely struggling students to see if there is a need for further Special Needs testing and or behavior testing
If there is clear evidence that additionally testing needs to be performed, I will consult the Special Needs teacher and involve administration
If students seem to grasp concepts after small group instruction, I will revise my lesson planning to accommodate this.
the 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
Students will work move onto Lesson 2: Muscular movements: origins and insertions
Formative assessment: exit ticket detailing insertions and origins of 5 muscles
If they answer all five correctly, this group will move onto Lesson 3:
Specific Muscular Function in the next class
If this activity proves to be too difficult, they will continue with muscular movements, insertions and origins worksheets
