Jesus Christ - Who Was He
Prophecies of the Old Testament.
Shows Jesus to be the Messiah
Written hundreds of years before Jesus was born so couldn't have been deliberately made to align with Jesus' life.
Many people who saw Jesus were alive when the New Testament was written so if stuff was made up then they would call it out.
The Bible hasn't been changed to add these prophecies.
Many early copies of scripture prove this.
Historical Accounts
Josephus
Said Jesus was real.
Jesus was said to be the Messiah.
Jesus was crucified by the hands of Pontius Pilate
Jesus was a wise man.
Jesus performed amazing feats
Tacitus
Proved he was real.
Jesus was the founder of Christianity.
Jesus was born in Judea.
Jesus suffered the extreme penalty (crucifixion) at the hands of Pontius Pilate.
Superstition arose after Jesus death (his resurrection) which later spread to Rome.
Book of Annals - Book 15 - Chapter 44
Pliny the Younger
Recognised that Jesus was a real person who was being worshipped as God.
Talks about how early Christians took the teachings of Jesus very seriously.
The Babylonian Talmud
Jesus was crucified.
Jesus was crucified because he practiced sorcery. This is similar to Pharisees' accusations that Jesus cast out demons by Beelzebul. Jesus' miracles could be thought to be sorcery.
Said that Jesus enticed Israel to apostasy. This is similar to the Jewish leaders who accused Jesus of misleading the nation with his teachings. This proves Jesus' powerful teaching ministry.
Lucian
Said that Jesus was a man who formed Christianity through his teachings.
Said that Jesus was crucified because of his teachings
Jesus' teachings included saying that all men were brothers at the moment of conversion, and that conversion involved denying the greek gods, worshipping him and living according to his teachings.
Conclusion
Josephus and Lucian indicate that Jesus was wise.
Pliny and the Talmud indicate that he was a powerful and reverend teacher.
Josephus and the Talmud indicate that he performed miraculous feats.
Tacitus, Josephus, the Talmud, and Lucian all mention that he was crucified. Tacitus and Josephus say this occurred under Pontius Pilate. And the Talmud declares it happened on the eve of Passover.
There are possible references to the Christian belief in Jesus' resurrection in both Tacitus and Josephus.
Josephus records that Jesus' followers believed He was the Christ, or Messiah.
Both Pliny and Lucian indicate that Christians worshipped Jesus as God.

Potential Ideas
Liar?
Could he have deceived so many people?
Could he have deceived his disciples and his own family?
If his disciples were also in on the lie then they wouldn't have died for it.
Lunatic?
People would have known this so wouldn't have followed him.
How would he have performed his miracles?
Doesn't explain the resurrection.
Lord?
Makes sense.
Prophet?
No prophet claims to be God.
Not Real?
Evidence disproves this.
Acts of the Apostles
Suffered torture, ridicule, and were eventually killed for their faith.
Why would they die for their faith if they just made it up?
Proof that Jesus met them after his resurrection.
