Major glands/organs and their functions;
Thyroid- produces hormones that regulate the body's metabolic rate as well as heart and digestive function, muscle control, brain development, mood and bone maintenance.
Puitary gland- secrete hormones into your bloodstream. These hormones can affect other organs and glands especially thyroid.
Testes- produce sperm and to produce hormones
Hypothalamus- controls body temperature, hunger, important aspects like thirst, fatigue, sleep
Pineal Gland- it produces and regulates some hormones, including melatonin.
Parathyroid- raises the blood calcium level by: breaking down the bone which if where most of body's calcium is at. And it also causing calcium To release.
Pancreas- pancreas has an endocrine function because it releases juices directly into the bloodstream, and it has an exocrine function
Adrenal gland- produce hormones that you can't live without, including cortisol. Cortisol helps you with stress. With adrenal gland disorders, your glands make too much or not enough hormones
Ovaries- produce and releases eggs into the females reproductive system and it produced oestrogen and progesterone.
Diseases associated with the endocrine system (include signsand symptoms of Diabetes Miletus).
Type 1 diabetes: is a chronic condition where the pancreas produced very little or sometimes no insulin.
Type 2 diabetes: chronic condition where of how the body processes blood sugar
Gigantism- a disease that causes abdominal growth in children and it can be affected by birth.
