Diagnostic imaging technologies
How the technology works
X- Ray
The X-Ray works by a beam passing through the patients body and detects the bodies bones and tissues. They either absorb or block the beam in the process
PET
A PET works by detecting protons throughout your body using a circular scan with dye that contains radioactive traces. These tracers are then inserted into ones vein.
MRI
The MRI sues specific powerful magnets to realign the patients atoms. This soon creates a magnetic field that generates radio waves in order for images to appear.
CT
A CT circulates around a patients body shooting beams, like the X-Ray. They use digital x-ray detectors to hopefully detect bone and joint problems. This may include fractures or tumors.
Ultrasound
The ultrasound is responsible for transmitting high frequency sound pulses in the body. The ultrasound is controlled by a probe, when the probe is placed on the body it conducts sound waves that come in contact with tissues.
What images show
X-Ray
Broken bones, fractures, are able to detect joints, and problems affecting soft tissues like organs.
PET
A PET can detect more serious matters like diseases and disabilities. Some of the major uses of a PET is scanning for seizures, cancer, and Alzheimer
MRI
The MRI is mainly sued for detecting the brain and its tumors, strokes, infection, and anything other than that
CT
Like a MRI, a CT can detect tumors, but in a more detailed matter. It is able to provide information of its shape, size, location, and even the blood vessels attached.
Ultrasound
Soft tissues such as, pancreas, bladder, gallbladder, kidney, and liver. Its main purpose is to detect the abdomen for pregnancies.
What typical uses for the technologies are
Doctors are able to keep scans to compare them to future patients, or to view improvement and vice versa
Are able to catch disease before spreading
Give an advantage before appearing worse, when it comes to broken bones... etc
Help doctors detect changes in the body
