As a class, everyone will watch a video about 5 Vertebrate Groups.
This group will be given a worksheet with different pictures of animals and they will have to put each animal on its group then write 3 facts about each group.
the 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
the 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
the 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs
With this group, we will use journals. Each student will get a book with pictures of different animals and the group they belong to. we will read it together and ask simple question: which animal do you think swim? fly?
And get a worksheet where they have to cut and glue the animals on each group. this will help both my ESL and Special needs students because of the picture also help them develop their fine motor skills.

This group of student will also watch a video but get a different sheet where they have to put each animal in the group it belongs to. give one fact on each group
once done I will pair them to choose a group and tell which other animals can be in that group adding drawings
They can present their work and display it as well. if there is still confusion about the topic. I will pair them again for reading-partner and read a story about vertebrate groups and discuss with each other the groups they read about then answer the question:
