credentials

licensure:
-required by law for some professions
-mangaed by each states department of health

certification:
-voluntary credential created by a professional association
-OBRA:CNA's need at least 75 hours of training and pass written and skills test

registry: employers can check this to ensure that employee credentials are up to date

legal and ethical issues: workers are limited by their scope of practice (skills or tasks they can perform based on their education and credentials)

malpractice

actions that violate a professionals scope of practice or standard of care and result in injury to the patient that could have been expected

standard of care

level of service that a healthcare person is expected to provide to a patient based on healthcare position and patient condition
