Pre-assessment
Help teachers to group students
Group 1
the 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
Group 3
the 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the the topic and need to be tested further for special needs
Group 2
the 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
Help teachers to differentiate instruction
Group 1
Independent group work. I will provide them challenge activities for them to develop critical thinking skills.
Group 2
Hands-on activity. I will provide them “How can rocks be broken down” lab activity for them to explore and develop their higher order thinking skills.
Group 3
Visual support and teacher's support. I will provide them a weathering video for them to watch, and they need to finish the Weathering concept map worksheet after they watched the video. I will also work with these kids together to guide them step by step.
Help teahers to track students learning
Assessment for ELL :
A Quick Vocabulary sheet including lesson vocabulary, along with academic vocabulary, review vocabulary, or multiple-meaning words, are listed and defined in the sheet. Students can add other words that they need to remember as well.
Visual pictures will be used for some complex questions to easier their understanding in the assessment.
Assessment for all students
KWL Chart: Students can evaluate their own daily progress using KWL Chart. They can compare their current data with their original data to see their improvements.
Assessment for special needs students
Each step of the procedure is broken down sentence by sentence.
Check-off boxes that provide easier processing for them
A key concept builder puzzle will be designed to reinforce weathering content for them before they take the summative assessment.
