RWS
Issues
-
-
Animal welfare/rights - they were aware of this but they misread the reaction (they thought by giving in to the first demand theyll get more sympathy but nope)
Stakeholder Engagement
-
-
Range of Approaches
-
-
Direct vs indirect (direct = "confront", indirect = influence target audience (activists) through the media [(online) media is a common indirect strategy to engage stakeholders], mediator = government (they'll identify the right ministry involved then have dialogues), can also get another activist group e.g. another animal welfare group to support you, then get this group to engage them
Ignore vs respond
why ignore? want to watch and see how things unfold. if respond, they want to see how to respond/problem solve

firstly, whale shark but activies protested and they relented. so dolphins but dolphins animal rights activist still protested. tehy have no chioce bc they alr invested so much money to build the park. firs tone alr relented. 2nd one theyre not going to give in.
subjective reality different - rws may legitly think that they are improving animal welfare. not purposely harm animals/offend animal rights groups
in order to gain understanding, first of all you need to acknowledge that they have a noble cause
