PLANT CLASSIFICATION
FLOWERING PLANTS
- Are the biggest group
- Have flowers and produce seeds
- Most of these plants reproduce sexually
- Flowers are the reproductive organs
ANGIOSPERM
- Are the largest group of flowering plants
. Flower of angiosperm PRODUCE FRUIT with SEED INSIDE
- LEAVES change colour in autumn
Examples: rice (grasses), holly (bushes), orange trees (tree)
GYMNOSPERMS
- Have small flowers
- Have hard and sharp leaves (needles)
- Produce seeds that grow in cones
Examples: cedars (trees) yews (Bushes)
NON - FLOWERING PLANTS
- Plants do not have flowers , seeds or fruit
- They reproduce asexually using spores
- Grow near water
FERN
- Have large leaves called FRONDS
- Produce spores inside SORI
- Have thick stem called RHIZOMES
- ROOTS grow underground
MOSSES
- Are primitive plants
- Have simple stems and leaves
- Produce spores inside capsules
- Do not have roots
- Have rhizoids, that hold the plant in the soil
