SIMPLE
The present tense is the base form of the verb :
I WORK in Zagreb
With the third person singular (he/she/it) we add an -s :
He WORKS in Zagreb
We use DO and DOES to make questions
We use DOES for the third person singular, and DO for the others
We use DO and DOES with questions words like : WHAT, WHERE and WHEN
The exeption are the questions with WHO where we don t often use DO or DOES
We use DO and DOES to make negatives
We use DOESN T for the third person singular, and DON T for the others
I DON T like shopping.
Susan DOESN T work with me.
We use present simple to talk about : something that happens regulary, something that is true in the present and something that is always true
We often use adverbs like : sometimes, always and never.
PERFECT

FINISHED : present results UNFINISHED : 1. how long (use with since and for)

CONTINUOUS
We use it to tell that an action is happening now in a larger sense, or at the moment of speech
We can also use it to show that the action is going to happen in the near future
Formed using IS/AM/ARE + PRESENT PARTICIPLE
Questions are indicated by inverting the subject and IS/AM/ARE : ARE you running ?
Negatives are made with not : You ARE NOT running.
We use it for :

- LONGER ACTIONS IN PROGRESS NOW
- NEAR FUTURE
- REPETITION AND IRRITATION WITH "ALWAYS"
