School sites
State/Center schools for the Deaf - provide the best access to Deaf culture because of the large number of Deaf students and Deaf adult role models
Day Schools - separate classrooms for deaf students are found in large cities
Self contained classrooms - provide deaf children with their own space within their own classroom
Inclusion program - where deaf children are placed in regular classrooms as hearing children
Deaf space in classrooms
The best classroom seating arrangement is a semicircle so a every student has visibility in which sign is being used
Deaf students who use hearing aids and cochlear implants can have trouble using them in schools because schools typically are noisy environments
Acoustic tiles on walls and the ceiling can be used to eliminate these sounds
Rugs may be placed on the ceiling and floor to help absorb the noisy sounds coming from the classrooms
Some deaf students that use a cochlear implant may benefit from an FM system to further amplify the teacher's voice
