- - - - The PLATO was a very expensive piece of equipment that was coveted by many universities, including the University of Alberta. While very difficult to program on it was proven to be a good tool for instant messaging, online forums, and course management.
      - The IBM 1500 Series (made by IBM) was one of the most high-tech advances in educational technology of its time. While similar to its predecessor, the PLATO, it had its own code called COURSEWRIER II.
        
        The IBM 1500 Series had better graphics, audio and video capabilities that were not seen in the PLATO
  - - - It costed around $530,000 and took up an entire room to operate.
      - This general computer allowed teachers to develop instructional material on a larger scale due to this computers higher capacity compared to previous tools.
