Challenges that Luther faced
In 1517, Luther decided to stand against the actions that of a friar named Johann Tetzel. He was against him raising money to rebuild St. Peter's cathedral in rome
Luther was troubled by Tetzel's tactics, he wrote formal statements during that time period to attack the pardon merchants
Luther began to critizice indulgences, he wanted to full reform the church and while he teached, he resented on three main ideas which were;
people could win salvation by faith and gods gift of forgiveness
*the church teaching should be ONLY teaching about the bible
*The faith of each people were equal
response to Luther
Luther's ideas kept spreading and kept attracting people towards everything he said. The printing press is what started the spreading of Luther's ideas. People saw this as a way to challenge the churches control.
Luther's ideas were seen as a threat by the pope. As people started to pay more attention to what he has to say, they thought the monk was a serious threat.
