Nouns

Proper Nouns- Name, places, months eg. England

Abstract- Do not have physical properties, eg. dream. Often have mysterious or indefinable connotations.
Collective- a group of something eg. family, community. Used to covey unity or scale or range.
Adjectives
Superlatives- show exceptional qualities eg. grandest, most.
Participle- suggest that the qualities are sustained, permanent. eg. terrifying.
Verbs
Dynamic-They are dong words eg. walk, watch.
Modal auxillary- show how certain something is eg. will, can, could.
Stative- thoughts/feelings eg. am, be, had
Phrasal- Verb + preposition eg. sitting down, get up.
Adverbs
Manner-The way something is done eg. calmly, violently.
Intensifying- Strengthen the effect of something eg. deeply, uproariously.
Hedging- Weaken the effect of something eg. temporarily, rarely.

Syndetic- eg. Apples, bananas and pears
Asyndetic- eg. Apples, bananas, pears

Narrative Voice
First person narrative voice- Seems sincere, intimate or first hand knowledge so trustworthy.
Second person narrative voice- Makes writer seem concerned for the readers welfare/ takes personal interest in reader. Conveys empathy towards the reader.

Clauses
Coordinate clause- Start with a coordinating conjunction eg. And, but, or eg. 'but in reality its a serious affliction'
Participle clause- Tenseless, contains participle verb. If fronted then foregrounds importance of the verb. eg. 'going to school, liam jumped on the bus'
Adverbial Clause- eg. 'Really worrying now, he opened the door'
Infinitive Clause- Contains an infinitive verb eg. 'To bring more into you life' Tenseless so suggests the qualities are sustained, permanent, constant.
