INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS AT DIA

WHAT WE ARE DOING WELL

WHAT WE ARE DOING THAT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

WHAT WE NEED TO START DOING

orgnising special events like sports day, international day, festive evening

Considering multiple perspectives in our units of inquiry - each Grade connects to some cultural aspects explicitly KG-fear, G1- celebrations, G2- communication, G3- communities, G4 -tourism- G5- beliefs and values. But other units also connect different perspectives

Obtain resources that show diversity- particularly with books, posters, games.

Connect more frequently with learning communities outside our own - within Dar, Tz, Africa and beyond

Celebrating international events - we do women's day, environment day, mother tongue day. We should consider ways to promote these more effectively

Find ways of upholding and integrating Mother tongue into the classroom learning opportunity.

Adding local and global dancing, songs , books and encourage students to share their perspectives in one of our assemblies.

more events that promote an interschool culture . so that students interact more with other students from different communities.

Promoting more examples and scenarios in our daily teaching and celebrate different culture celebrations.

Invite global as well as local perspectives for students to engage and benefit from.

Providing more meaningful feedback to students about questions they maybe about diverse topics.

Acknowledge/Celebrate the remarkable international days in our assemblies. (for example, if a certain Grade conducts their assembly during the world peace day week can prepare something related to that instead of their classroom learning engagements

Practicing multilinguilism by addressing assemblies, making facebook posts and communicating in languages other than English

Providing avenues for students to explore and share any new learning experience that they may have encountered.

Creating opportunities for students to practice their values and honour their cultural practices, for example, celebrations like Haloween, Diwali etc

including parents and dia community to help plan events that they celebrate in their country and show us how they do it so we can celebrate together

Celebrate the cultural diversity within our community.

Creating avenues that will help us understand who we are so it can in-turn help us understand who others are.

Artist of the week, finding ways to bring it more alive and existent to the learning community.

Involving workers from across countries

Promoting gender awareness and understanding gender disparities.
