Compare and Contrast with Steps
For both Diego and Juan, mentoring is a way to encourage the student in order to help them improve academically with more support being given to Diego because he has more serious social behavior issues than Juan. In Juan case, he just needs more encouragement from everyone around him from teachers, students, and parents. The counselor referral would be an option for both. However, in Diego's case, because his behavior is more serious, this option would be strongly considered if there are no strong changes in his behavior. The behavior contract will differ between the two students. At the beginning of the learn, students must sign behavior contracts from the school outlining what is expected of them. Since this contract will be between teacher and student, the language, expectation and aims will also be different. Lastly, Juan does not have serious social behavior issues like Diego therefore, he does not need to have (BIP) or counselor referral at this time.
