Size of Events
Mega events
The largest events are called mega-events, generally targeted at international market, for example Olympic Games, World Cup Football, etc.
Regional events
It is designed to increase the appeal of a specific tourism destination or region. Moonsun Cup, and Warna warni Malaysia are an example of regional events.
Major events
These events attract significant local interest and large numbers of participants as well as generating tourism revenue.
Minor events
Most events fall into this last category, and it is here that most event managers gain their experience. Example: Purple Walk, etc.
The Event Team

A planning team of 12 may expand into a team of 500 people – this phenomenon is called “pulsing organization” (Toffler).

For some events, the manager is also required to become a liaison officer with government agencies.
